ONLINE COUPLES THERAPY

Relationships go through ups and downs — it’s part of being human. But when communication breaks down or conflict becomes overwhelming, many couples wonder whether therapy might help. Today, with the flexibility of virtual sessions, online couples therapy has become a powerful, accessible way to reconnect and grow — together.

In this guide, you’ll learn what online couples therapy is, how it works, and what to expect in your first session.

What Is Online Couples Therapy?

Online couples therapy is a form of professional counseling that helps partners address relationship challenges, improve communication, and strengthen emotional connection — all through a secure video platform.

Instead of meeting in an office, you and your partner attend virtual sessions from the comfort of your own home, using a computer, tablet, or phone.

Common goals in couples therapy include:

  • Navigating conflict in a healthy way

  • Rebuilding trust after betrayal

  • Improving communication and emotional intimacy

  • Making joint decisions during major life transitions

  • Strengthening the foundation of a long-term relationship

5 Signs Your Relationship Might Benefit from Therapy

Every relationship has its seasons — moments of deep connection, and times when things feel heavy, distant, or uncertain. If you’re wondering whether therapy might help, you’re not alone.

Couples therapy isn’t just for relationships in crisis. It can be a safe space to heal, reconnect, and grow — even if things aren’t “falling apart.” Below are five signs that it may be time to seek support together.

You’re having the same argument over and over again

Do you feel like you’re stuck in a loop — repeating the same fight with no resolution? Whether it’s about money, intimacy, parenting, or the way you communicate, recurring conflict often points to deeper needs that aren’t being acknowledged or understood.

Therapy helps uncover the why behind the arguments — and opens the door to healthier communication patterns.

You live together. You talk every day. But something feels… off.

When emotional connection starts to fade, partners may feel like roommates instead of lovers or teammates. If you miss the closeness you once had — even if everything looks “fine” from the outside — therapy can help rebuild that bridge between you.

Avoidance is a coping mechanism — but it often creates more distance. If you or your partner shut down, walk on eggshells, or stay silent to avoid conflict, it’s a sign that important emotions are being buried.

In therapy, you’ll learn how to have hard conversations in safe and respectful ways — and how to truly listen to each other.

Infidelity. Lies. Secrets. Even small betrayals can chip away at a relationship over time.

Rebuilding trust is possible — but it takes time, intention, and guidance. A therapist can support both partners in the healing process, creating space for accountability, honesty, and hope.

Maybe you’re not in crisis. Maybe things are “okay.” But you sense there’s something more you could share — more intimacy, more fun, more ease, more us.

Couples therapy isn’t just about fixing what’s broken. It’s about helping your relationship thrive, with tools to grow stronger together.

COUPLES THERAPY

The basis of my practice is working with couples to integrate their desires and differences into a satisfying relationship. Wherever you are in your relationship, we will use all available tools, from sex education to body awareness, to foster intimacy and understanding between you and your partner.

This includes crisis resolution, but also formulating a plan for success in the early stages of a relationship. I also treat sexual problems such as vaginismus, anorgasmia, erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation, as well as many other symptoms and syndromes related to sexual aversions.

WOMEN’S WELLNESS THERAPY

I support women who are going through infertility processes, or hormonal syndromes such as polycystic ovary syndrome and amenorrhoea.

I accompany processes of pregnancy, puerperium and menopause. In this therapy, we will work together to understand the connection between physical and mental health and how our habits and nutrition are essential to our overall wellbeing.

WOMEN’S SEXUAL THERAPY

I work with women (individually and in groups) who desire a deeper connection to their sexuality.

Do you have trouble reaching orgasm? Has sex become painful, difficult or undesirable? Do you simply want more from your sex life? In this therapy we will explore your personal history to repair or rebuild your relationship with your body, sexuality and your pleasure.

SEXUAL EDUCATION

I offer sex education and re-education to adolescents and young adults (with parental support and consent). This service is especially useful for young women seeking to understand hormonal function and menstruation and to deepen their relationship with their cycles and body.

The goal of this therapy is a comprehensive understanding of the body and sexuality helping to develop the ability to make informed choices.

Is Online Therapy Effective for Couples?

Yes — online therapy can be just as effective as in-person therapy for many couples. It allows for consistent scheduling, access to a wider range of therapists, and often helps clients feel more at ease in their own space.

Studies show that virtual couples therapy promotes meaningful change, especially when both partners are committed and open to the process.

Starting couples therapy may feel intimidating, but the first session is really about building trust and clarifying your goals. Your therapist will guide a conversation to understand:

  • Your relationship history and current challenges

  • Each partner’s concerns and hopes for therapy

  • The patterns or dynamics that may be keeping you stuck

  • What success in therapy would look like for you as a couple

It’s also a chance to get comfortable with your therapist’s approach and decide if it feels like a good fit.

Here’s a typical step-by-step process:

  1. Schedule: Book a session online — some therapists offer a free initial consultation.

  2. Prepare: Choose a quiet, private space and test your internet connection.

  3. Join: Log into the secure video platform at the scheduled time.

  4. Engage: Both partners participate actively, with the therapist guiding and mediating.

  5. Follow-up: Sessions are often weekly or biweekly, with optional exercises between meetings.

Some therapists offer flexibility — for example, if one partner is traveling, they can still join remotely.

Online couples counseling isn’t just for relationships in crisis. It can benefit couples at all stages — whether you’re:

  • Dating or engaged and want to build a strong foundation

  • Struggling with recurring arguments

  • Coping with stressors like parenting, relocation, or work-life balance

  • Wanting to rekindle intimacy or rediscover each other
